Allen & Overy LLP announced today that Stephen Besen has joined the firm’s New York office as a partner in the M&A practice. Stephen is a versatile and experienced M&A lawyer and joins from Shearman & Sterling. He has 35 years of experience advising on public and private company mergers and tender offers, joint ventures, restructurings, private equity and other private capital transactions.
At Allen & Overy, Stephen will leverage his deep experience within the asset management, industrial, energy and infrastructure sectors to advise clients in both the public and private M&A markets. Stephen specializes in cross-border transactions, including in China, India, Latin America and the Middle East.
Over the course of his career, he has been recognized as one of the leading lawyers in corporate/M&A and private equity by Chambers USA and Legal 500. In 2008, Stephen was named “Dealmaker of the Year” by The American Lawyer for his role advising SABIC on the $11.6 billion acquisition of GE Plastics.
