Lewis Brisbois Expands Professional Liability Capabilities in New Jersey With New Partner Hire

Lewis Brisbois is pleased to announce the addition of Wendy Crowther as a partner in the firm’s Professional Liability and Legal Malpractice Defense Practices. Based in Lewis Brisbois’ Newark office, Ms. Crowther brings more than 25 years of experience representing clients in professional liability, complex commercial, and general litigation matters.

Ms. Crowther joins from a Monmouth County firm, where she regularly represented shareholders, directors, business owners, and business entities in a wide variety of matters, including legal malpractice, real estate, restrictive covenants, and insurance coverage. Earlier in her career, she defended corporations, individuals, carriers, and insureds against professional liability, employment law, and product liability claims. Ms. Crowther’s experience includes serving as a member of a core team that successfully defended a law firm client against complex multi-county legal malpractice and RICO actions brought by hundreds of plaintiffs with individual and unique underlying employment discrimination claims.

“I am thrilled to join Meredith [Stoma] and her incredible team and to continue my work defending professionals,” said Ms. Crowther. “Lewis Brisbois provides an ideal setting for this work, with its excellent reputation, extensive resources, and national reach.”

“Our office and the firm as a whole are very pleased Wendy decided to join us,” said Newark Managing Partner Colin P. Hackett. “Wendy adds a further dimension as well as depth to Meredith’s existing team of attorneys, which by all accounts is one of the premier and largest groups of professional liability attorneys in New Jersey and possibly the metro area.”

A member of the Women in the Profession section of the New Jersey State Bar Association, Ms. Crowther also serves on the Unauthorized Practice of Law Committee of the Monmouth County Bar Association. In addition, she serves as a trustee for the Legal Aid Society of Monmouth County, Inc., which provides pro bono representation to indigent Monmouth County residents.

Ms. Crowther received her law degree, cum laude, from New York Law School and her undergraduate degree, magna cum laude, from Ohio Wesleyan University. She is admitted to practice in the federal and state courts of New Jersey and New York.
