Leading international law firm Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer has appointed David Almroth to the partnership.

He has joined the firm’s US leveraged finance practice in New York on 7 December.

‘Dave brings a great deal of experience in leveraged finance to the firm and his arrival will enable us to build out further our transactional practice in the US with partners of the highest quality,’ said David Trott, global head of the firm’s finance practice group.

Jim Douglas, head of the firm’s US leveraged finance practice, added: ‘Dave is a first class lawyer and we all look forward to working with him. Adding Dave to our team clearly enhances our finance offering to complement our rapidly expanding transactional practice in the US. I have known Dave for many years and both personally and professionally he is a perfect fit for what we are building here in New York.’

Commenting on joining Freshfields, Dave said: ‘This is an incredible opportunity to help grow and develop a US finance practice for a truly global law firm. I was attracted to Freshfields by its ambitious plans in the finance market and the excellent team already in place.’

Dave joins from a US law firm where he has represented corporations, equity sponsors and strategic investors and investment banks, commercial banks, hedge funds and other institutions. He also has represented clients in connection with in-court and out-of-court restructurings and workouts, including debtor-in-possession financings and “exit” financings.

Dave earned his JD from Seton Hall University School of Law in 1994, served as the law clerk for United States District Court Judge Dickinson R. Debevoise and is admitted to practice law in New York.
