International Corporate Lawyer Gabriel Monzon-Cortarelli Joins Seyfarth in New York

Seyfarth Shaw LLP announced today the arrival of partner Gabriel Monzon-Cortarelli to the firm’s Corporate department in New York. Monzon-Cortarelli joins Seyfarth from Greenberg Traurig LLP where he was a shareholder in the Corporate & Securities practice and headed the firm’s Italian Desk.

Monzon-Cortarelli’s practice is focused on corporate, corporate finance and commercial transactions involving public and privately held US, European and Latin America companies. Specifically, he handles complex cross-border mergers, joint ventures and strategic alliances involving US, European and Latin America businesses. In addition, he advises on international capital market offerings for European and Latin American issuers and underwriters.

“Gabe is an exceptional corporate lawyer with deep experience representing European and Latin America companies in the US,” said Paul Mattingly, chair of Seyfarth’s Corporate department. “We are excited for him to grow his practice here and he is a great complement to our firm’s existing cross-border transactional capabilities.”

“Gabe has distinguished himself as one of the foremost lawyers advising Italian and other European corporations doing business in the US today,” said John Napoli, co-managing partner of Seyfarth’s New York office. “He has succeeded in all aspects of cross-border mergers and acquisitions and will serve as a key resource to clients and colleagues alike.”

A native Italian and Spanish speaker, Monzon-Cortarelli previously practiced with international corporate firms including Clifford Chance LLP and Greenberg Traurig LLP. He received his LL.B. from University College London and his LL.M. in Corporate Banking and Finance from Fordham University School of Law.

“It is tremendously gratifying to attract a lawyer of Gabe’s caliber to our talented New York team, and we could not be more pleased with the strong momentum in our corporate and international groups,” said Lorie Almon, co-managing partner of Seyfarth’s New York office.

Seyfarth’s Corporate department focuses on areas such as mergers and acquisitions, securities, investment management, corporate counseling, commercial transactions, financing, international business, and tax planning.
