Eversheds Sutherland Enhances Global Corporate Crime & Investigations Practice with Addition of Negar Tekeei as Partner

Eversheds Sutherland is pleased to announce that former Assistant United States Attorney Negar Tekeei has joined the firm as a partner and global co-lead for the Corporate Crime & Investigations Practice.

She joins from the United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York (SDNY), where she most recently served as Co-Chief of the National Security and International Narcotics Unit. Drawing on her extensive prosecutorial and leadership experience, Ms. Tekeei will help build out the firm’s white-collar defense and global investigations practice while advising clients across industries on mitigating the risks of, navigating, and responding to government investigations and enforcement actions.

Ms. Tekeei has an exceptional track record of leading high-profile investigations and steering complex cross-border matters, including sanctions evasion, export controls, money laundering, counterterrorism, counterintelligence, and securities fraud. She has handled and overseen numerous jury trials, argued before the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, and worked closely with agencies, such as the United States Securities and Exchange Commission and United States Department of Commerce, and various components of the Department of Justice, including its National Security Division. Her leadership across government and private practice strengthens the firm’s ability to guide clients through their most critical regulatory and enforcement challenges.

“With more than a decade of experience as a federal prosecutor at the SDNY and her proven leadership in navigating high-stakes matters, Negar’s arrival as partner and global co-lead of our Corporate Crime & Investigations Practice aligns with our commitment to delivering exceptional counsel on complex regulatory and enforcement challenges,” said Lino Mendiola, Global Co-CEO of Eversheds Sutherland. “She strengthens our capacity to provide seamless, cross-border solutions and underscores our role as a trusted advisor to clients worldwide. I am thrilled to welcome her to the firm.”

“Negar has been one of the nation’s foremost prosecutors, and now she comes to Eversheds Sutherland where she will lead and grow our global white-collar practice, including where that practice increasingly intersects with national security,” said Michael Bahar and Kymberly Kochis, the US Co-Heads of Global Litigation. “Her vision, collaborative approach, sterling reputation, and experience working with government agencies further strengthen our team’s ability to guide clients through their most critical challenges.”

Ms. Tekeei also brings significant private practice experience, having previously served as a litigation associate at two prominent law firms, where she handled criminal and regulatory investigations, securities fraud, antitrust, insider trading, and a range of civil and commercial disputes.

Her representative matters include supervising the prosecution of senior leaders of terrorist organizations, leading billion-dollar sanctions-evasion and money laundering cases, and handling complex securities fraud prosecutions. She is recognized for her strategic leadership, courtroom advocacy, and ability to navigate multi-jurisdictional matters.

“Eversheds Sutherland’s global platform and commitment to client success, combined with its reputation in corporate crime, investigations, and national security, present an exciting opportunity for the next phase of my career,” said Ms. Tekeei. “I look forward to working with my new colleagues to help guide clients through their most critical matters.”

Ms. Tekeei’s addition further underscores the firm’s commitment to strengthening and expanding its Litigation capabilities with preeminent practitioners. Earlier this year, the firm also welcomed Partner Blake Roberts as Co-Lead of Congressional Investigations and Partner Bradford Newman as Head of Complex Technology Disputes (US), reinforcing its strategic focus on high-stakes matters.
