BakerHostetler announced today that nationally recognized trial lawyer Aric Wu has joined the firm as a partner in the Litigation Practice Group and as a member of the White Collar, Investigations and Securities Enforcement and Litigation team in the New York office. Wu arrives at the firm from Cooley LLP.
Wu brings more than 25 years of experience as a securities litigator, representing clients in some of the most complex commercial disputes in the country. He joins BakerHostetler from an Am Law 25 firm, where he established a track record of success in SEC investigations and enforcement proceedings, mergers and acquisitions litigation, securities class actions, and shareholder derivative suits.
“Aric is one of the country’s foremost securities litigators. He has an outstanding record in high-stakes matters. He is responsive, creative and extremely knowledgeable, and his arrival immediately bolsters the depth and talent of our leading securities and governance litigation team. We are thrilled to welcome Aric and know that he will be a great asset to our clients as they navigate their most complex securities and governance litigation matters,” said Doug Greene, leader of BakerHostetler’s Securities and Governance Litigation team.
With a reputation for delivering results in challenging, high-value matters, Wu has represented public and private companies across industries, as well as banks and financial institutions, in disputes involving billions of dollars in alleged damages. His notable representations include defending a global financial institution in a securities class action with more than $2 billion at stake and leading a board committee through a high-profile internal investigation tied to a $1.5 billion merger.
In addition to his litigation successes, Wu has advised clients through sensitive SEC and regulatory enforcement actions, helping resolve matters discreetly and favorably. His ability to manage multijurisdictional, complex disputes has made him a trusted counselor for clients facing critical legal threats.
“New York City is home to America’s securities markets and to countless public companies. Having a seasoned securities litigator of Aric’s caliber on-site is a key factor in ensuring the highest level of defense for our clients. We are excited to have him join our growing securities litigation defense team,” said George Stamboulidis, Managing Partner of BakerHostetler’s New York office and co-leader of the White Collar, Investigations and Securities Enforcement and Litigation team.
Wu earned his J.D. from Columbia University and a B.A. from Princeton University. He has been consistently recognized as a top securities attorney by Chambers, Legal 500, Law360, and New York Super Lawyers.
