Baker Botts Accelerates Strategic Transactional Growth with Key Partner Additions in New York

Baker Botts L.L.P., a leading international energy, technology and life sciences law firm, has added Ron Aizen and Fritz Lark as partners in its New York office. Their arrival marks a major step forward in expanding the firm’s strategic deal capabilities and deepening its bench in power and digital infrastructure – two areas of firmwide expertise and increasing client demand. Aizen and Lark join from Paul Weiss and McDermott Will & Schulte, respectively.

The duo joins amid a wave of dynamic hiring across Baker Botts’ platform, with 17 lateral partners brought on so far in 2025. With public companies, private equity sponsors, and global corporates seeking sophisticated counsel for high-value transactions, New York continues to be one of the Firm’s focal points for growth in the areas of data centers, digital infrastructure, and all things power.

“We keep a close ear to the market, and Ron and Fritz’s names came up repeatedly as go-to advisors on complex deals,” said Danny David, Managing Partner of Baker Botts. “Bringing them on board is a direct response to what our clients want – sharp, business-minded counsel who can deliver at the highest level in our areas where our services lead the market. This is about building a powerhouse corporate practice that reflects the ambition of our clients and the complexity of the market.”

A former partner at Paul Weiss, Aizen brings deep experience in executive compensation, benefits, and transactional tax strategy, advising public and private companies, PE sponsors, and boards on the full range of compensation and incentive structures. His work is tightly integrated with M&A, IPOs, spin-offs, restructurings, and other high-stakes corporate events, adding critical depth to the firm’s transactional team.

Formerly with McDermott Will & Schulte, Lark focuses on public company and private equity mergers and acquisitions, with a reputation for navigating complex deal structures with clarity and confidence. He helps clients maximize the opportunities that the intersection of digital infrastructure and power increasingly present.

“Fritz brings exactly the kind of industry-aligned M&A experience that resonates with our client base,” said Samantha Crispin, Chair of the Corporate Department. “He’s a dealmaker with a strong track record in sectors where we lead, and his addition reflects our broader strategy to scale corporate capabilities around energy transition, infrastructure, and innovation.”

“Ron is widely respected in the market not just for his technical excellence, but for how seamlessly he integrates tax and compensation advice into larger deal strategy,” said Stephen Marcus, Chair of the Tax Department. “Clients trust him with some of their most sensitive and high-profile transactions. His arrival meaningfully expands our tax and transactional capabilities in New York and worldwide.”

Aizen commented: “Baker Botts has built a reputation for handling market-moving deals with precision and pragmatism. The firm’s integrated approach and upward momentum made this an easy decision.”

Lark added: “There’s real strength here, especially in the sectors where I focus, and a clear vision for how to grow. I’m excited to be part of the team and support clients in navigating complex transactions.”
