Sidley Austin LLP Expands M&A and Private Equity Practices With Addition of Mark Thompson

Sidley Austin LLP announced today that it has added Mark E. Thompson as a partner in its New York and London offices. Mr. Thompson will be a member of the Firm’s M&A and Private Equity practices.

His practice focuses on international and cross-border transactions, and on the representation of private equity funds and fund sponsors. In particular, he is experienced in issues relating to the acquisition and sale of companies in the mobile payments and commerce industry, as well as in advising private equity funds investing in this sector. However, Mr. Thompson also regularly represents clients in an array of other industries, including energy, telecommunications, banking and finance, transportation/logistics, finance and retail.

“Mark’s extensive experience representing clients in domestic and cross-border transactions, coupled with his deep knowledge of M&A and joint ventures involving companies in the mobile payments and commerce sector, will make him a valuable addition to our practice,” said George Petrow, managing partner of the Firm’s European region. “Notably, Mark’s arrival closely follows that of Mike O’Brien, who joined our M&A and Private Equity groups in January and also represents clients in the mobile payments and commerce industry.”
