Holland & Knight is expanding its New York offices once again, hiring three top attorneys who will practice in key growth areas for the firm. Rob Bernstein and Walter Dunn join Holland & Knight as partners; Eric Yecies joins as senior counsel.
“We are very pleased to be starting off 2013 with a great group of new colleagues,” said Bill Honan, executive partner of Holland & Knight’s New York office. “Our goal is to strengthen the New York office by focusing on core growth areas. Rob, Walter and Eric bring experience that will benefit our existing clients and help us expand into new markets.”
Since relocating to midtown Manhattan in 2010 and implementing an aggressive recruiting program, Holland & Knight has expanded its New York office by 25 percent. In 2013, the office will continue its recruiting efforts to continue to strengthen and grow in key areas such as real estate, intellectual property and corporate law.
Rob Bernstein, a new member of the firm’s Litigation Section, focuses on real estate development, construction and infrastructure in domestic and international markets. His current projects include mixed use developments in New York, power production in the Middle East, sports facilities, suburban subdivisions, and academic and religious institutions. In addition to litigation, Mr. Bernstein represents clients in transactional matters related to construction and infrastructure including drafting and negotiating development contracts, and compliance with applicable regulatory requirements. He was formerly a partner in McCarter & English’s New York City office.
Walter Dunn, a new member of the firm’s Business Section, has extensive experience assisting clients in the energy industry. He has experience with the preparation and negotiation of power purchase and sale agreements, master forward trading agreements and related credit support agreements and annexes, long-term service agreements and equipment purchases. He regularly assists clients with the negotiation and drafting of contracts for engineering, procurement and construction of large scale construction projects. Examples include all types of power plants (from biomass to nuclear) and supporting facilities, midstream gas plants, ocean side terminals, storage facilities and other projects, such as luxury hotels, office buildings and public use space. Mr. Dunn was formerly a partner with McGuireWoods.
Eric Yecies, a new member of the firm’s Litigation Section, handles intellectual property matters for a wide array of industries and in a variety of technical disciplines, including pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, medical devices, biologics and optics. Mr. Yecies has extensive experience in patent, appellate and trademark litigation, as well as in licensing, regulatory matters, opinion work, client counseling, arbitration and anticompetitive behavior, with a particular experience in HatchWaxman pharmaceutical patent litigation. He was formerly an associate with Goodwin Procter.
