Jones Day Welcomes Doreen Davis to Labor & Employment Practice in New York

The global law firm Jones Day has announced that Doreen Davis has joined the Firm’s New York Office as a partner in the Labor & Employment Practice. She arrives from Morgan Lewis, where she was a partner in and national co-chair of the Labor-Management Relations and Labor Disputes Practice.

Ms. Davis’ practice focuses on the representation of employers in trials and other proceedings before the National Labor Relations Board, union organizational activities, and collective bargaining. She advises clients on the labor aspects of mergers, acquisitions, and plant consolidations and provides strategic advice in corporate campaigns. Ms. Davis has litigated a variety of significant unfair labor practices cases, including one of the largest cases ever to emanate from the Philadelphia region at the National Labor Relations Board, involving substantial back-pay claims and demands by the government that a business that relocated to Michigan be ordered to return to Wilmington, Delaware. Ms. Davis has also served as defense counsel in a nationwide class action lawsuit brought under the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act.

“Doreen is an outstanding addition to our Labor & Employment Practice,” said Larry DiNardo, the head of Jones Day’s L&E practice. “Her deep background on NLRB and union matters brings additional depth to our already very significant labor and industrial relations capabilities and our union organizing and collective bargaining experience, areas of critical concern to many employers and capabilities where Jones Day has a rich tradition serving our clients.”

From 2003 through 2012, Ms. Davis was named one of the leading U.S. lawyers for labor and employment law by Chambers USA, based on the assessments of clients, peers, and other industry professionals. Chambers called Ms. Davis a “capable, dedicated, and tough” lawyer who “really knows her stuff and is tenacious on behalf of her clients.” She is also listed, along with Jones Day’s Willis Goldsmith, Partner-in-Charge of Jones Day’s New York Office, as one of the top five traditional labor lawyers in the United States by Legal 500.

“We’re very excited to have Doreen join us in New York,” said Mr. Goldsmith. “We have known her for many years. Her wealth of experience in labor and employment matters adds greatly to our strong team here.”

Ms. Davis began her career as a field attorney with the National Labor Relation Board, Fourth Region. She is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania and New York. She earned her J.D. from the Temple University School of Law, Magna Cum Laude, and her B.A. degree from Pennsylvania State University.
