Greenberg Traurig’s Intellectual Property & Technology Practice Welcomes Dr. Jonathan David Ball

The international law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP announced today that Dr. Jonathan David Ball has joined the firm’s New York office as a shareholder in the Intellectual Property and Technology practice.

Ball’s move to Greenberg Traurig comes on the heels of a number of high profile patent litigation hires that have helped to further enhance the firm’s national platform including Richard Pettus in New York from King & Spalding, Kate Hutchins in New York from Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale & Dorr LLP, Rick Tache in Orange County from Snell and Wilmer, Ross Spencer Garsson in Austin from Matheson Keys Garsson & Kordzik PLLC and Kakoli Caprihan in Washington, D.C. from Finnegan Henderson. Ball joins from the law firm of King & Spalding where he was a partner.

Ball’s practice focuses on patent litigation, counseling and opinion work,as well as patent portfolio management, prosecution and licensing. He regularly counsels U.S. and foreign clients in a broad range of technologies, including pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, chemicals, medical devices, semiconductors, food sciences, consumer products, and mechanical arts. He has extensive experience in a variety of bio-pharmaceutical matters, including Hatch-Waxman litigation, pre-ANDA diligence, and counseling on pharmaceutical patent life cycle management.

Ball earned his J.D. cum laude from the University of Richmond, T.C. Williams School of Law. He also earned his Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, and was employed as a post-doctoral researcher at Indiana University. He was involved in research in the fields of small molecule organic synthesis, synthesis of solid-state organic inclusion compounds, and physical chemistry of organic radicals.
