Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe LLP announced today that Peter D. Vogl has joined the firm as a partner in its intellectual property practice, resident in New York. Vogl joins Orrick from Jones Day, where he was the co-leader of that firm’s Global Trademark, Unfair Competition and Copyright Group.
Vogl’s practice focuses on trademark, trade dress, false advertising, anti-counterfeiting, copyright, cybersquatting, product disparagement, and trade secret litigation before state and federal courts, and inter partes proceedings before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board. It includes trademark counseling and portfolio management on behalf of multinational and domestic consumer products and services companies. In addition, Vogl advises clients on trademark and copyright audits, securitizations, acquisitions, and divestitures of intellectual property portfolios.

Before Jones Day, Vogl was at Pennie & Edmonds, where he played a lead role in orchestrating Pennie’s merger with Jones Day in December 2003. He has been a member of the United States Council for International Business, where he has served on the organization’s Intellectual Property Steering Committee, responsible for its BASCAP anti-counterfeiting initiative. Vogl is a member of the Trademark Law & Practice Committee of the NYIPLA, and also one of 10 members of the Anti-Counterfeiting & Piracy Sub-Committee of Intellectual Property Ownership Association, along with in-house counsel at top companies.
