Simpson Thacher Represents Underwriters in Debt Offerings Totaling Approximately U.S.$1.95 Billion by América Móvil, S.A.B. de C.V.

The Firm represented underwriters in two concurrent public debt offerings that raised approximately $1.95 billion for América Móvil, S.A.B. de C.V.

  • The Firm represented Deutsche Bank in connection with a public offering of £750 million aggregate principal amount of 4.375% Senior Notes due 2041 by América Móvil.
  • The Firm also represented Citigroup and Morgan Stanley in connection with a public offering of U.S.$350 million aggregate principal amount of 3.125% Senior Notes due 2022 and U.S.$40 million aggregate principal amount of 4.375% Senior Notes due 2042 by América Móvil. This offering represented a reopening of an earlier offering of these notes that was completed in July 2012.

América Móvil will use the net proceeds of the offerings to repay outstanding indebtedness during the balance of 2012.

América Móvil, which is organized in Mexico, is the largest provider of wireless communications services in Latin America, based upon its 252 million subscribers in 18 countries at June 30, 2012. Mexico, Brazil and Colombia are América Móvil’s single largest markets for wireless communications. América Móvil also has major fixed-line operations in Mexico, Brazil and 12 other countries.
