Cozen O’Connor Announces Addition of Senior Corporate Attorney in New York, a Recognized Authority in In-Bound Investment from China

Cozen O’Connor, among the 100 largest U.S. law firms, announced today that corporate, business, and securities attorney Andrew M. Ross has joined the firm as a member of the Corporate Practice Group in the New York office. He formerly was a partner with Loeb & Loeb in New York and Chair of that firm’s national Mergers and Acquisitions Group.

Mr. Ross’s practice includes domestic and international mergers and acquisitions, debt and equity financing, venture capital and bank financing, and general corporate representation. His practice also involves the representation of senior executives in employment agreements and other compensation arrangements.

In addition, Mr. Ross works with Chinese law firms, investment banks, and Chinese professionals to assist Chinese companies engaging in acquisitions and investment in the United States. He has spoken and published extensively on the subject in both China and the United States.

“We are thrilled to welcome Andy to the firm,” said Cozen O’Connor President and Executive Partner Michael J. Heller. “Andy’s private equity and venture capital experience adds significant depth to our firm’s corporate practice in the New York region,” Mr. Heller said. “In addition, his extensive experience with Chinese companies presents valuable opportunities for clients seeking to structure in-bound investments and acquisitions.”

“I look forward to working with the firm and its Corporate Group,” Mr. Ross said. “Cozen O’Connor has done a spectacular job of expanding the depth and geographic scope of its transactional practices, and I am so pleased to be a part of that strategic growth. I am particularly excited about the opportunity to continue to expand my work with Chinese companies.”

Mr. Ross has represented emerging growth companies and their founders in developing strategic relationships, raising financing with mature multinational businesses, and representing buyers and sellers at all levels from initial conception of a transaction through consideration of counterparties, structuring, negotiations and closing.

While at Loeb & Loeb, he served as co-chair of the firm’s national Corporate Department, and served as Chair of the firm’s national mergers and acquisitions group.

China Focus

Mr. Ross has spoken in China to senior executives of Chinese companies about engaging in transactions in the United States. He has published articles on authoritative sites such as Caixin online and China.org.cn, and in many influential publications, including the Shanghai Financial News.

He is one of a number of senior lateral attorneys who have joined Cozen O’Connor to expand the firm’s China practice. In March of 2011, the firm added two attorneys in the New York office to the firm’s China Practice Group, including an attorney who took the position of Director of China Business Development, and spends a significant amount of her time in China maintaining and developing relationships with Chinese companies and firms.

Mr. Ross earned his J.D. from Stanford Law School, and was an editor of the Stanford Law Review. He received his bachelor’s degree from the State University of New York at Albany, graduating summa cum laude, and was a member of Phi Beta Kappa.
