Former U.S. Representative from New York Rick Lazio has been hired to fill a New York legal job with Jones, Walker, Waechter, Poitevent, Carrère & Denègre, according to a press release.
Lazio will spearhead the newly opened New York office as a partner, where tasks that cross his desk might include legal recruitment.
The majority of his work will be in affordable housing, housing finance and financial services.
“We are thrilled to have Rick Lazio as a partner,” managing partner William H. Hines with the law firm said. “He is devoted to the cause of affordable housing and will be a valuable contributor to our firm’s efforts in the housing finance and real estate practices. His leadership and experience in financial services will be a very valuable addition to this firm. He will also be heading our new office in New York, which is an important complement to our growth strategy as a firm.”
Lazio also will have an office in the firm’s Washington, DC site.
Lazio was chair of the Housing Subcommittee while in the U.S. House of Representatives and is remembered for his unsuccessful run for a New York U.S. Senate seat against Hillary Clinton in 2000.
