Kelley Drye & Warren LLP is pleased to announce that noted corporate lawyer Bruce R. Kraus is joining the partnership today. Mr. Kraus left private practice in 2009 to join the staff of the Securities and Exchange Commission at a senior level, where he focused on rulemaking and related economic and litigation matters. At Kelly Drye, he will offer his expertise in mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, capital markets transactions and corporate restructurings, as well as his particular knowledge of recent developments in securities law.
Prior to his public service, Mr. Kraus was a partner in Willkie Farr & Gallagher LLP for more than 15 years where he represented clients such as Loral Space & Communications, XO Communications, and 360networks in a number of significant capital raising, M&A and restructuring transactions. During the financial crisis, he represented the trustee for the U.S. Treasury’s plurality investment in GMAC, now known as Ally Bank.
“Bruce has made significant contributions to both the public and private sectors, thanks to his deep understanding of the laws and regulatory framework in which businesses operate today. His advice in structuring deals in a wide variety of industries will be invaluable to our growing corporate group, both in New York and in our other offices. Mr. Kraus is a graduate of Harvard College, with a degree magna cum laude in economics, Phi Beta Kappa. At Yale Law School, he was an editor of the Yale Law Journal, after which he clerked for the Honorable Irving R. Kaufman, Chief Judge of the United States Court of Appeals, Second Circuit.
