Simpson Thacher represented Legg Mason BW Global Income Opportunities Fund Inc. (the “Fund”) in connection with its $400 million initial public offering of common stock. The Fund is a newly organized, non-diversified, closed-end management investment company which trades on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol “BWG”. The underwriting syndicate for the offering was led by Merrill Lynch, Pierce, Fenner & Smith Incorporated, Citigroup Global Markets Inc., Morgan Stanley & Co. LLC, UBS Securities LLC and Ameriprise Financial Services, Inc.
The Fund’s primary investment objective is to provide current income. As a secondary investment objective, the Fund will seek capital appreciation. The Fund seeks to achieve its investment objectives by investing, under normal market conditions, at least 80% of its Managed Assets in global fixed-income securities. Legg Mason Partners Fund Advisor, LLC is the Fund’s investment manager. The Fund’s subadviser is Brandywine Global Investment Management, LLC, a subsidiary of Legg Mason, Inc.
