Sidley Austin LLP is pleased to announce that Timothy J. Clark is joining the firm’s Investment Funds, Advisers and Derivatives practice as a partner in the New York office.
“Tim is a leading investment funds lawyer with tremendous experience in the varied aspects of private equity fund formation,” said Michael Schmidtberger, Managing Partner of Sidley’s New York office and a member of the firm’s Management Committee and Executive Committee. “Tim will be leading the firm’s private equity fund formation efforts in New York and will add to the considerable strength of our global practice group.”
Mr. Clark focuses his practice on representing private fund clients on a global basis, including: sponsors of buyout/growth equity funds, energy funds, bank/financial services funds, secondary funds, real estate funds, RMB-denominated funds, credit opportunity funds and venture capital funds; managers in spin-outs from financial institutions; buyers, sellers and other participants in secondary/structured secondary transactions; and institutional clients investing in, or co-investing alongside, private funds.

Mr. Clark was ranked in Chambers USA: America’s Leading Business Lawyers, Who’s Who Legal and the International Who’s Who of Business Lawyers. He is a member of the Private Investment Fund Forum, and writes and speaks frequently on topics relating to investment funds and trends in private equity fund terms and conditions. Mr. Clark earned his J.D. from New York University School of Law, cum laude, Order of the Coif, and was awarded the John Norton Pomeroy Prize and the Law Review Alumni Association Award. He received his B.A. from Wesleyan University, Phi Beta Kappa, and won the Heideman Award for Community Service.
