Blank Rome LLP is pleased to announce that Paul H. Shur has joined the Firm as a partner in the Financial Services group. For the past 30 years, Mr. Shur has concentrated his practice in commercial and financial transactions, loan workout restructures and creditors’ rights litigation. He is based in the Firm’s New York and Princeton, N.J. offices.

Mr. Shur joins Blank Rome from Sills Cummis & Gross P.C. where he was a member and Chair of the Banking and Finance Practice Group. He represents national and regional banks in large lending matters and has significant experience advising on the Uniform Commercial Code in the areas of sales and lease transactions, negotiable instruments, bank deposits and collections, letters of credit, investment securities, and secured transactions.
Mr. Shur is a frequent lecturer and serves on panels for various bar associations and trade groups, and has authored numerous articles on the Uniform Commercial Code and commercial finance trends.
Prior to Sills Cummis & Gross P.C., Mr. Shur was a partner with Reed Smith. He is a Fellow with the American College of Commercial Finance Attorneys and of the American College of Mortgage Attorneys. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the New York Institute of Credit and the Executive Board of the New Jersey Chapter of Turnaround Management Association. He is a member of the Association of Commercial Finance Attorneys, Inc., and a member emeritus of the Board of Directors of the Banking Law Section of the New Jersey State Bar Association, for which he previously served as Chair. Mr. Shur is a member of the New York Chapter of the Association for Corporate Growth, and of the American Bar Association’s Business Law Section, serving on the Commercial Financial Services Committee, and Uniform Commercial Code Committee. In 2001, Mr. Shur received the Distinguished Legislative Service Award from the New Jersey State Bar Association, and was also recognized by its Business Law Section with the Special Achievement Award.
Mr. Shur is admitted to practice in New York, New Jersey, Florida and the District of Columbia. He earned his Juris Doctor from Rutgers University School of Law, and his Bachelor of Arts from Rutgers College with high distinction and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa, Phi Sigma Iota.
