The global law firm Jones Day has announced that Kelsey Nix has joined the Firm’s New York Office as a partner in the Intellectual Property Practice. Mr. Nix arrives from the New York office of Willkie Farr & Gallagher LLP where he was a partner in the Intellectual Property and Litigation Departments.
Mr. Nix focuses his practice on intellectual property litigation, including trials and appeals of patent, trade secret, copyright and trademark infringement cases, as well as licensing transactions and disputes. He has substantial experience as a trial lawyer and has tried to verdict and through judgment and appeal many patent, trade secret and copyright disputes. Mr. Nix has represented companies in more than 50 lawsuits in federal courts throughout the U.S. and in the International Trade Commission.

With degrees in physics and mechanical engineering, Mr. Nix has litigated cases in a wide range of technologies including medical devices, trading systems, microprocessors, wireless security systems, pharmaceuticals, encryption, electronic commerce, biotechnology, postage metering systems, modems, light emitting diodes, consumer products, batteries and machine tools.

Mr. Nix earned his B.A. from Hendrix College, a B.S. from Columbia University, and his J.D. from Duke University. He is a member of the American Bar Association, the American Intellectual Property Law Association (AIPLA), the International Trade Commission Trial Lawyers Association, the Intellectual Property Owners Association, the American Chemical Society, and the Licensing Executives Society. Mr. Nix is registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
