Jones Day Welcomes Two New Banking & Finance Lawyers in New York

The global law firm Jones Day is pleased to announce that two lawyers have joined the Banking & Finance Practice in the Firm’s New York Office.

Alice Yurke will join as partner and arrives from the New York office of Ashurst LLP, where she was a partner in the Finance Practice. Jonathan Ching will join as of counsel and arrives from a global investment firm where he served as a vice president and counsel.
“We are pleased to welcome Alice and Jonathan to the Firm,” said Mark Sisitsky, co-leader of Jones Day’s Banking & Finance Practice. “Their substantial experience in financial products and related regulatory issues will enhance our structured finance and derivatives practice and will be of great value to our clients as they face both challenging new regulations and changing financial markets.”
Ms. Yurke focuses her practice on structured products, including equity-, credit-, hedge fund- and commodity-linked structures in both U.S. and offshore markets. She has substantial experience advising financial institutions in structuring products for hedging, arbitrage, balance sheet management, and liquidity purposes across a variety of sectors, and regularly advises clients on products involving principal protection. Ms. Yurke also has extensive background in bank lending and advises clients on regulatory concerns such as risk-based capital, as well as bankruptcy and workout issues in the context of both derivatives and loan transactions.
Mr. Ching focuses his practice on structured products and their applications in trading and capital markets. He has managed numerous transactions involving product structuring, valuation, and margin arrangements; insolvency issues; and trade unwinds, and has substantial background in negotiating documentation for transactions. In addition to his transactional work, Mr. Ching has significant regulatory experience working with U.S., U.K., and European Union regulators, as well as industry groups in connection with the regulation of OTC derivatives.
“Alice and Jonathan are great additions to the Firm and our Banking & Finance team,” said Willis Goldsmith, Partner-in-Charge of Jones Day’s New York Office. “Their significant experience in complex structured finance transactions adds even more capacity to serve our clients not only here in New York, but also around the world.”
