Real Estate Lawyer Steven Bloom Joins Akerman Senterfitt’s New York Office

Steven Bloom has joined Akerman Senterfitt as a shareholder in the firm’s Real Estate Practice Group in New York. He joins the firm after serving as partner at Bryan Cave LLP and formally Robinson Silverman Pearce Aronsohn & Berman LLP.

Bloom represents both U.S. and international investors, owner and operators in the acquisition, development, financing and disposition of multifamily, office, retail and industrial properties. He has been involved in the development of prominent office buildings in Manhattan, including the former headquarters of Phillip Morris at 120 Park Avenue and Group Health Incorporated at 441 9th Avenue, as well as 875 Third Avenue, 712 Fifth Avenue, 1585 Broadway, 750 Seventh Avenue and Tower 49. He also has advised on complex mixed-use and residential development projects, such as 15 Central Park West, the St. Vincent’s Hospital site, and 18 Gramercy Park South.

“Steve has a sophisticated understanding of the New York City office and multifamily markets,” said Richard Bezold, chair of Akerman’s Real Estate Practice Group. “He will fit seamlessly into Akerman’s expansive real estate practice and also broaden our capabilities for clients involved in mixed-use projects across the United States and throughout the Americas.”

Bloom is a graduate of New York University School of Law, Wharton Graduate School of the University of Pennsylvania and Brandeis University. He is a past co-chair of the New York State Bar Association’s Committee on Real Estate Financing and serves as a member of the Trey Whitfield School’s Board of Trustees.

Bloom becoming a shareholder follows a wave of new lawyers joining the firm’s New York office since Akerman moved to a larger location on Fifth Avenue in May. The firm most recently welcomed a team of labor and employment lawyers from Jackson Lewis, including Matthew Steinberg and Samantha Abeysekera, as well as commercial litigators David BayneJim Maloney, and Steven Cordero from Kavanagh Maloney & Osnato LLP.
