Ship finance partner Brian P. Devine has joined the New York office of leading US law firm Fulbright & Jaworski LLP. Brian’s appointment comes ahead of Fulbright’s combination with international legal practice Norton Rose on 3 June 2013, to form Norton Rose Fulbright.
Brian joins the practice from Blank Rome LLP’s New York office. A leading lawyer in the US ship finance market, Brian advises financial institutions and borrower clients operating in the US and internationally on finance and security arrangements, insolvency matters, mergers, acquisitions and divestitures, debt and equity offerings, sale and purchase, commercial transactions and disputes and corporate governance and structure, with a focus on the shipping sector.
Harry Theochari, global head of transport, Norton Rose, commented:
“Brian will add strength to Norton Rose’s global transport practice. New York is a key market for the shipping sector and our international clients will benefit from Brian’s ship finance expertise.
“Traditional sources of finance for the shipping sector remain constrained and New York offers access to real sources of ship finance as the sector increasingly draws on the capital markets and private equity for its funding. Brian brings with him a huge amount of experience and will complement our existing global shipping practice.”
Linda Addison, the Partner-in-Charge of Fulbright’s New York office, commented:
“Brian will expand client offerings in our New York office. His extensive experience working with clients in the transportation industry will add to our strength.”
Prior to joining Blank Rome LLP, Brian was a partner at Healy & Baillie, LLP, which combined with Blank Rome in 2006. Brian received his Juris Doctor from the University of Houston Law Center and a Bachelor of Science in political science with a second major in history from the University of Scranton. He is admitted to practice law in New Jersey and New York.
