Polsinelli’s Real Estate Practice Continues Expansion in Nashville with J. David Wicker, Jr.

Am Law 100 firm Polsinelli welcomes real estate attorney J. David Wicker, Jr. to the firm’s Nashville office as part of the firm’s expansion of its nationally renowned Real Estate Practice. Earlier this spring, Shareholder Sarah K. Laird and Associate Brittany S. Macon joined the firm with a focus on serving the real estate needs of Middle Tennessee while growing the practice nationally. Wicker joins the firm from Stites & Harbison PLLC.

“We’re committed to growing our real estate practice to meet the demand we’re seeing in Nashville, around the region and across the country, and David will play a big role in that effort,” said Polsinelli Real Estate Practice Chair Amy Kiefer Hansen. “Sarah and Brittany have quickly built momentum since joining in March, with both Nashville-based clients and national clients, and David’s practice complements their strengths perfectly.”
Wicker’s practice includes all aspects pertaining to the development, acquisition, sale, and financing of commercial real estate. From obtaining financing and acquiring the raw land to the project’s development, lease-up and ultimate disposition, he represents owners, developers, lenders, and other participants in a wide array of real estate transactions and real estate joint ventures. “It’s exciting to be part of what Polsinelli’s Real Estate Practice is building in Nashville, especially with the ability to tap the valuable perspectives of colleagues in more than 20 offices nationwide,” said Wicker. “It’s important to me to be able to serve my friends and neighbors throughout Middle Tennessee, and I appreciate how Polsinelli has also made it a priority.”
Polsinelli’s Real Estate team continues to see an increase demand across the nation for their services. Since October 2021, Polsinelli has hired more than 20 lateral partners in its national Real Estate Practice, which now has more than 150 lawyers in offices across the country.
Outside of his practice, Wicker is a known leader throughout the region, currently serving as a member of the Tennessee Bar Association – Real Estate Law Section’s Executive Committee and the Rotary Club of Nashville. His previous board service includes other esteemed community organizations, such as the Nashville Downtown Partnership Board of Directors, Metropolitan Nashville Sports Authority, the Nashville Education, Community and Arts Television Corporation and the MLS2Nashville committee. Wicker earned his bachelor’s degree from Southern Methodist University before obtaining his J.D. at Southern Methodist University Law School.
Wicker joins a robust national roster of real estate attorneys who provide the practical solutions clients value, as well as vast experience in areas that include transactions, financing structures and land use entitlements from acquisition and financing through development and leasing. The Practice continues to achieve a National Tier One ranking in Real Estate Law by U.S. News & World Report’s 2021 “Best Law Firms” list, and it was included in Legal 500’s prestigious 2021 rankings.
