City’s Major Health Care Presence Prompts Polsinelli to Expand Legal Services to Nashville

Polsinelli, U.S. News & World Report 2015 “Law Firm of the Year in Health Care,” opened a Nashville office with two well-known Nashville health care attorneys, Bobby Guy and Robert P. Dempsey.

“Nashville is recognized for its depth and leadership in health care,” said Polsinelli Chairman Russ Welsh. “We are committed to serving the health care industry and entering Nashville is a perfect complement for our national Health Care Practice. We are very excited to begin working with Bobby and Robert who will provide additional business insights to our clients and help us forge relationships in Nashville.”

Bobby Guy and Robert P. Dempsey join Polsinelli’s national Health Care Practice and bring significant industry experience to the firm. Both serve the health care industry and assist health care providers with a wide variety of legal services including mergers and acquisitions, securities, finance and distressed investment matters and more. The firm is committed to expanding its new Nashville office by adding experienced attorneys in other practices areas serving health care clients.

The firm is now in 21 cities nationwide with more than 740 attorneys. Last month, Polsinelli added a new office in Raleigh, N.C. also focusing on serving health care clients. The growth aligns with the firm’s goal of expansion in key markets, including other new offices opened in Atlanta and San Francisco in 2014.

Polsinelli represents a wide variety of health care clients including hospital and health systems, infusion therapy providers, health care technology companies, home health and hospice agencies, and senior and long-term care facilities. Polsinelli was also recently ranked as the second and third largest Health Care Practice nationally by the American Health Lawyers Association and Modern Healthcare respectively.

As a deal lawyer specializing in mergers and acquisitions, Bobby Guy focuses his practice on fixing, buying and selling struggling companies in the health care industry. He has experience with corporate/business transactions, private equity funds, health care financing, and distressed investing in health care facilities, long-term care facilities and more.

“We joined Polsinelli for many reasons, but particularly because we wanted to work for a national Am Law 100 firm that was committed to health care, had a collaborative culture, and was highly-strategic and business focused,” Guy said. “Offices in strong financial centers in Chicago and New York were also important to Robert and me, and Polsinelli has a very strong reputation in financial services. We’re excited to be a part of the firm.”

Robert Dempsey represents public and private companies in a wide array of corporate and securities transactions, with an emphasis on mergers and acquisitions, securities offerings, distressed transactions and private equity financings. With extensive experience in the health care industry, Dempsey represents hospitals, health care services companies, senior living providers, medical technology companies and more.

Polsinelli’s Chairman Welsh stated that while they enter Nashville serving the health care industry, the firm is committed to growing in other industries and services.

“Four years ago we started a new Dallas office with three attorneys and now have three dozen,” said Welsh. “In July, we are relocating to a new space in Dallas to accommodate growth. That’s what we anticipate for Nashville, growth in a wide variety of legal services to assist our clients in multiple industries.”
