Simmons & Simmons Enhances the Firm’s Financial Markets Practice

International law firm Simmons & Simmons has demonstrated its ongoing commitment to expanding its offering in the financial markets practice with the arrival of a new partner. Michaela Sopp (49) joined the firm’s Munich office on Monday 01 July as a partner in the financial markets practice. Michaela joins the firm from Linklaters, where she was a partner in the banking practice.

Michaela brings over 20 years’ experience to the firm with a particular expertise in finance, ranging from real estate finance, acquisition finance, corporate finance and restructuring among others.

The appointment of Michaela is part of the firm’s ongoing strategic plans and is corresponding to a changing and very competitive market for all participants.

Upon arrival Michaela will focus her attention on financial institutions clients and debt funds as well as sponsor/investment management clients with their specific products as loans, unitranches and senior/mezzanine structures. Especially, Investment managers and funds are expected to become actively engaged and visible with significant investment in German real estate, coming mainly from Asia and the US.
