Boies Schiller Flexner Adds Accomplished Litigator to International Investigations and Private Client Offering

Boies Schiller Flexner LLP today announced that Martin De Luca has joined the firm as a partner. Martin counsels high-net-worth individuals and corporations in complex multijurisdictional disputes, developing offensive and defensive strategies to manage the criminal and civil litigation often associated with high-profile government investigations. De Luca comes to the firm from Kobre & Kim LLP.

Martin has advised clients in high-stakes matters spanning the globe, including various offshore jurisdictions such as the British Virgin Islands, the Cayman Islands, Bahamas, the Marshall Islands, the Cook Islands, and Cyprus. He is a former state and federal prosecutor, having served as both a Special Assistant U.S. Attorney in the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York and an Assistant District Attorney in the New York County District Attorney’s Office.

“Boies Schiller’s global platform and reputation for handling extremely high-profile matters offered me the perfect opportunity to continue to grow my multijurisdictional disputes practice,” Martin said. “The firm has a supremely talented roster of attorneys, including a unique offering for ultra-high-net-worth individuals through their U.S. and European locations. I look forward to working with them all.”

In addition to his work helping clients navigate international sanction regimes, Martin advises on enforcement actions brought by U.S. and international authorities, covering issues such as fraud, anti-corruption, asset forfeiture, and related insolvency litigation. Martin will be based in Miami and New York and will also work closely with the firm’s London and Milan offices.

“Martin’s impressive background spearheading complex, cross-border litigation will prove invaluable to our clients both domestically and overseas,” said Miami-based partner Steve Zack. “Our Miami office has long been a gateway to work in Latin America, and Martin’s addition will greatly strengthen those connections. He is an ideal fit for the firm as we continue to integrate our teams and expand our global footprint.”

Martin is adept at counseling clients through multiple, parallel criminal and civil matters across various international and offshore jurisdictions, while staying attuned to the impact one proceeding will have on the other. He is renowned for his breadth of multijurisdictional knowledge and the care he takes in protecting his clients’ reputations, and he is recognized for these qualities by Chambers & Partners.

“Martin possesses the skills that our clients need in high-risk, complex situations. He’s a talented litigator, strategic adviser, and a thoughtful navigator of potential legal and reputational crises,” added Managing Partner Matthew L. Schwartz, who also leads the firm’s Crisis Management and Global Investigations and White Collar Defense practices. “His strategic, multidisciplinary approach fits perfectly with Boies Schiller’s strong investigations practice and will enhance our ability to serve our global clientele.”
