Dentons further expands IP offering in Melbourne

Dentons continues to expand its IP offering for clients with the appointment of two senior IP lawyers in Melbourne; Joy Atacador and Roanne De Menezes.

Joy Atacador joins the firm as a partner in our Melbourne office. Joy will head up the Intellectual Property and Technology, and Life Sciences and Health Care practices in Australia. Joy is a leading Australian practitioner, with almost 20 years of experience as an IP lawyer and trade mark attorney at boutique Australian Intellectual Property firms. In her most recent role, Joy was the head of the legal practice and sat on the firm’s leadership team.

Joy specialises in IP litigation and dispute resolution, particularly the protection and enforcement of trade marks, patents, copyright, designs, confidential information and reputation rights. Joy acts for both Australian and global organisations across a range of IP issues and also manages the international trade mark portfolios of well-known consumer brands.

Roanne De Menezes joins Dentons as a Special Counsel, and brings to the Firm more than 15 years of experience in IP law, with a focus on trade marks and portfolio management. Roanne has expertise in all aspects of trade mark management covering a broad range of sectors, from pre-filing clearance searches, filing strategy advices, and filing and prosecution of trade marks locally and internationally.

Australia Region CEO, Ian Dardis, said that the appointment of Joy Atacador and Roanne De Menezes along with the recent appointments of Lis Boyce, Scott Sloan and Robyn Chatwood significantly enhance the Firm’s IP, IT and Life Sciences capabilities in Australia.

“Dentons has been focussed on growing our IP and IT capability and on building a sector focus around Life Sciences and Health Care in Australia.

“Dentons now has a strong local team that will benefit our Australian and international clients.”

Roanne De Menezes commences on 28 May 2018.
