Greenberg Traurig Adds Skilled Class Action Litigator Lisa Simonetti in Los Angeles

Global law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP continues to expand its Litigation Practice in California with the addition of Lisa M. Simonetti as shareholder in the Los Angeles office. Simonetti, who joins the firm from Vedder Price, focuses her practice on the defense of complex litigation, including financial services class actions and mass actions.

“We are excited to add a litigator of Lisa’s strength and experience to our Los Angeles team,” said Jeff E. Scott, who co-chairs Greenberg Traurig’s Global Litigation Practice, and co-manages the Los Angeles office. “Her deep experience handling complex commercial and class action litigation for financial services companies makes her an exceptional asset to our clients.”

Simonetti serves as trial and appellate counsel in courts around the country, representing a wide array of financial services companies, including credit card issuers, mortgage lenders, e-commerce companies, automotive finance companies, national banks, student lenders, and savings and loan associations. She has developed unique arguments in defense of actions under California’s Unfair Competition Law (UCL), and has presented issues of first impression under the UCL to the Courts of Appeal, relating to the defense of federal preemption and a range of other subjects.

Simonetti routinely counsels financial services clients on compliance with state and federal laws in the current regulatory environment. She works with her clients to devise strategies for avoiding the risk of litigation or regulatory proceedings and for defending actions, if initiated. She concentrates on class action defense, state and federal financial services compliance, corporate liability, complex commercial litigation, and issues related to UCL and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.

She earned a J.D. from Loyola Law School Los Angeles, and a B.A. from University of California, Los Angeles.

“I am thrilled to join a litigation team of this caliber and play a role in the growth of the practice and the Los Angeles office,” Simonetti said. “I know my clients will benefit from Greenberg Traurig’s global platform and collaborative culture.”

Most recently, in California, Greenberg Traurig added litigators Todd A. Pickles, David A. Cheit, Deepi K. Miller, and Alicia R. Intriago in Sacramento; L. Scott Oliver in Silicon Valley; Charles O. Thompson in San Francisco; J. David Bournazian in Orange County; and Elizabeth Valentina in Los Angeles.
