BakerHostetler Expands West Coast First-Chair Trial Practice with Addition of David H. Stern in Los Angeles Office

BakerHostetler announced today that David H. Stern has joined the firm as a partner in the Litigation Practice Group resident in Los Angeles. Stern joins from Dechert LLP in Los Angeles.

“I have known David for many years, so I am particularly excited to add the depth of capabilities that he brings to our California litigation group. He becomes the fourth first-chair trial lawyer we have added to our West Coast litigation group in the past 12 months,” said Eric Sagerman, managing partner of BakerHostetler’s Los Angeles office. Stern joins products liability attorney William Oxley, securities and class action lawyer David Aronoff, and white collar and investigations attorneys Robb Adkins and Kim Morris, all trial lawyers who have most recently joined the firm’s West Coast offices, forming the new face of the firm’s West Coast litigation group.

Stern focuses his practice on complex litigation, representing clients in class actions, false advertising, antitrust and intellectual property, and wage and hour matters. His clients are brand-name multinational and domestic companies spanning a variety of industries.

“David is a respected litigator with tremendous experience in key practice areas for our group,” added Ray Whitman, chair of BakerHostetler’s national Litigation Practice Group. “His experience strongly complements what has become a deep bench of trial lawyers on the West Coast.”

He also served as a director of the Western Center on Law & Poverty, a nonprofit dedicated to advocate in courts, cities and counties and at the Capitol to secure housing, healthcare and a strong safety net for low-income Californians. He received his J.D. from the University of Minnesota and his M.Sc. from the London School of Economics and Political Science.

“BakerHostetler has a well-known litigation practice and a reputation for successfully handling complex, high-profile cases,” said Stern. “I’m thrilled to be joining a firm with a demonstrated commitment to growing its West Coast offices and outstanding capabilities to serve its clients.”

With nearly 400 litigators in offices coast to coast, BakerHostetler’s Litigation Practice Group represents market-leading clients in virtually every type of case and proceeding, nationally and around the world. The group’s roster of litigators includes former prosecutors, veteran civil trial lawyers and former enforcement officials from various government agencies. BakerHostetler is recognized as a “go-to law firm” for its deep bench, commitment to client needs and tenacity, and the Litigation Practice Group successfully protects clients in and out of the courtroom.
