Akin Gump is pleased to announce that Andrea W. Lucan has rejoined the firm as a partner in its global project finance practice in Los Angeles. Ms. Lucan returns to Akin Gump from K&L Gates.

Ms. Lucan’s practice focuses on project development and finance, with a particular emphasis on representing companies engaged in the development, financing, construction and operation of solar power, wind power, energy storage and other alternative energy projects. Her experience extends to all elements of alternative energy development and finance, including merger and acquisition transactions, equity and debt financing, equipment purchase and sale agreements, and power purchase agreements.

“Our clients will be very well served by Andrea’s broad knowledge of the project finance markets and will welcome her advice and counsel on their most complex transactions,” said Akin Gump chairperson Kim Koopersmith. “She is a great addition to our top-tier project finance team, and I am delighted to welcome Andrea back to Akin Gump.”

“Amid decreasing capital costs and a growing appetite for infrastructure projects with new structures, Andrea’s M&A and project structuring experience will be extremely valuable,” added Dan Sinaiko, co-head of Akin Gump’s global project finance practice. “Having worked with her in the past, I know Andrea is a smart, detail-oriented lawyer who truly understands the needs of her clients, and I am very happy to have her on our team once again.”

Among her recent engagements, Ms. Lucan represented an industry-leading supplier of advanced energy management solutions in connection with the sale of a portfolio of renewable energy power generation and storage projects. She also represented a renewable energy project development company in the acquisition of almost 4GW of solar development pipeline. In addition, Ms. Lucan has advised clients on the development of utility-scale solar projects, gas-fired projects and energy storage projects.

“Returning to Akin Gump and working with colleagues I know so well was a great opportunity,” said Ms. Lucan. “This is a particularly exciting time to work in the alternative energy space, and I look forward to being able to leverage Akin Gump’s tremendous breadth of resources to help clients pursue opportunities and thrive in such a dynamic environment.”

Ms. Lucan received her J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania Law School and her B.A. from the University of California, Berkeley.
