Alston & Bird Continues to Expand in Los Angeles

Alston & Bird LLP announced today that Charles W. Cox has joined its litigation team as a partner in the firm’s Los Angeles office. Mr. Cox focuses on representing clients in complex commercial litigation, including stockholder litigation, class actions, derivative suits and matters related to mergers and acquisitions.

Mr. Cox’s arrival comes on the heels of other recent additions to Alston & Bird’s West Coast Litigation team. Within the last 6 months, James Roberts, Jr., a veteran litigator, who defends complex and high-exposure lawsuits in state and federal courts and Mark Johnson, who litigates complex matters, including, among others, environmental and construction litigation, joined the firm in the Los Angeles office. Together, these three new partners extend the breadth and depth of the firm’s litigation expertise.

Highly regarded both in and out of the courts, Mr. Cox has represented numerous leaders in the accounting, manufacturing, health care and gaming industries. As a trusted advisor, he also provides counseling on corporate governance issues and represents executives and officers in disputes and investigations.

“Chuck has been involved in a number of high-profile disputes and has gained an unparalleled understanding of the complex business needs of his clients,” said Alston & Bird Managing Partner Richard Hays. “We look forward to the experience and knowledge he can bring to our clients and the firm.”

Mr. Cox has successfully represented clients in federal and state court, arbitration and courts of appeal. He has substantial trial and arbitration experience.

“Chuck’s skills as a litigator and advisor will be a tremendous addition to our highly regarded California attorney bench,” said Thomas Wingard, partner-in-charge of Alston & Bird’s Los Angeles office. “He is the perfect complement to our thriving, Los Angeles-area practice, and we look forward to his addition to the team.”

Mr. Cox comes to Alston & Bird from the Los Angeles office of Latham & Watkins.
