Polsinelli Expands National Health Care Practice with Veteran Los Angeles Attorney Robert Layton

Polsinelli welcomes experienced health care attorney Robert Layton to the firm’s Los Angeles office as a shareholder, joining a national Health Care Practice ranked by both the American Health Lawyers Association (AHLA) and Modern Healthcare as the nation’s fourth largest. Layton has practiced as a health care attorney for more than three decades, representing virtually every segment of the industry.

“Robert is a great addition to the group at both the national level and as part of our strategic goal to further develop our health care presence in California,” said Health Care Practice Chair Matthew J. Murer. “Robert’s experience covers representing the full continuum of care and touches on virtually every key state regulatory body as well.”

Layton’s clients have included some of the largest hospital systems in the country and he is credited with bringing to life the most successful provider-owned health plan in the U.S. The veteran attorney also has represented major medical groups, health plans, surgery centers, ancillary providers, skilled nursing and medical device developers, among many others. His regulatory experience includes representing providers before the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, the California Departments of Health Services, Public Health, Managed Care, Pharmacy and the California Medical Board.

“Polsinelli has earned a well-deserved national reputation for a sophisticated understanding of the business. In health care law, they are the players, and I welcome the opportunity to practice and collaborate with some of the nation’s most recognized health care lawyers,” Layton said.

The firm’s commitment to the healthcare industry and its clients is further demonstrated with the recent addition of Polsinelli attorney Kristen Rosati, who serves as the current AHLA president. The AHLA is the nation’s largest educational organization devoted to legal issues in the healthcare field.

The American Lawyer Magazine featured Polsinelli in its June 2013 issue and recognized it as the fastest-growing law firm in America over the past five years. This year, the firm moved up to the 69th position from 78th in The National Law Journal’s ranking of the largest U.S. based law firms.

Layton earned his law degree from the University of California-Davis School of Law in 1974 and his B.A. degree from the same university in 1971.
