Alston & Bird Continues Expansion of West Coast Litigation Team

Alston & Bird LLP announced today that Dominique R. Shelton has joined its litigation team as a partner in the firm’s Los Angeles office. An experienced litigator and counselor, Ms. Shelton’s practice is focused on privacy, unfair competition and intellectual property matters.

With extensive experience related to digital media and privacy issues, Ms. Shelton represents Fortune 500 corporations, start-up ventures and privately held companies across a broad spectrum of industries that include media and entertainment, technology, digital sales and marketing, advertising, telecommunications and manufacturing. Her representative clients include original equipment manufacturers, television and film studios, cable channels, technology companies, semiconductor distributors and major arts institutions in Los Angeles.

Ms. Shelton also serves as a trusted advisor, providing counsel regarding privacy and regulatory issues arising from a range of critical business activities, including Web 2.0 marketing, behavioral advertising, social networking websites, user-generated content and digital advertising. Accredited by the International Association of Privacy Professionals, she is a Certified Information Privacy Professional. Ms. Shelton also regularly represents clients in privacy-related matters before state Attorneys General and the Federal Trade Commission.

Ms. Shelton’s arrival follows several additions that have expanded Alston & Bird’s West Coast litigation team. Within the last 12 months, the group has been bolstered by the additions of partners Charles Cox, James Roberts, Jr., and Mark Johnson, all of whom have substantial experience spanning securities, employment, environmental, construction and real estate litigation matters.

Ms. Shelton comes to Alston & Bird from the Los Angeles office of Edwards Wildman.
She serves as a member of the Magistrate Judge Merit Selection Panel for the United States District Court, Central District of California. She is a member of the Executive Committee of the Entertainment & Intellectual Property Law Section of the Los Angeles County Bar Association and served as its chair from 2011-2012. She serves on the board of directors of the Federal Bar Association of Los Angeles and was co-chair of the Intellectual Property Law Section of the American Bar Association from 2009-2010.

Ms. Shelton earned a J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center and a B.A. from Brown University.
