Winston & Strawn Adds Transportation Finance Partner in London

Winston & Strawn LLP is pleased to announce the hire of transportation finance lawyer Alison Weal, previously with White & Case LLP, as a partner in the firm’s London office. Alison will serve Winston’s transportation finance clients and also work with the firm’s aviation and maritime practices.

“Alison will assist our clients in navigating intricacies across an array of financing issues,” said Winston Chairman Tom Fitzgerald. “Her unique global expertise is an important addition to our transportation finance practice, led by Mark Moody in London, and will provide cross-border benefits to financial institutions and companies with international, multi-jurisdiction transportation finance transactions.”

“As we continue to grow our practice to meet our clients’ needs in London and Continental Europe, we are pleased to be able to provide the specific expertise Alison brings to the firm,” added Peter Crowther, Winston’s London Managing Partner. “She is well known for her ability to help clients execute complex international financings in the aviation and maritime sectors.”

Educated in the UK and France, Alison has extensive experience in cross-border aircraft and maritime financings including finance leases, tax-based leasing structures, capital markets structures and export credit supported financings. Her clients include banks, export credit agencies, borrowers, and lessees operating in the aviation and shipping industries.

“I am delighted to be joining Winston & Strawn, particularly at this exciting time when the firm is focused on further developing its transportation finance capabilities. I look forward to collaborating with our clients and colleagues,” said Alison.
