Vinson & Elkins Strengthens Tax Practice with Addition of Partner Peita Menon in London

Vinson & Elkins continues its strategic growth in London with the addition of Peita Menon as a partner in its global tax practice. Menon will lead the firm’s London and EMEA tax practice, advising domestic and international clients in transactional matters across a wide range of industries. Menon joins Vinson & Elkins from White & Case where he lead the U.K. tax practice and co-led the EMEA tax practice.

“Peita is a talented, versatile tax lawyer whose expertise fits perfectly with our existing practice in what has been an exceptionally busy year,” said Vinson & Elkins chairman Mark Kelly. “Our corporate tax practice has long been a core strength of our firm, and Peita’s experience in our areas of focus, including private equity, M&A, restructuring, real estate and cross-border transactions helps to add further value to our clients.”

Menon has extensive experience, advising on major transactions including public and private mergers and acquisitions (including joint ventures, debt and equity capital markets, banking and finance and funds). He also has a strong track record in domestic and cross-border restructurings, having devised and implemented complex structures in this area for many well-known multinational corporates.

“To be appointed to lead and build the London and EMEA tax practice at Vinson & Elkins is an opportunity I embrace with both hands,” adds Peita. “The practice is a strategic priority for the firm, and to be a part of a team that is collegiate, encourages collaboration and invests in its lawyers’ learning and development was an attractive proposition.”

“Peita strengthens even further our London office, which continues to grow as we increase our already-formidable presence in tax, M&A, private equity, capital markets, project finance and litigation,” said Alex Msimang, managing partner of the Vinson & Elkins London office. “Since establishing the London office in 1971 we have grown to a team of 110 lawyers and staff and our focus on expanding our practice continues.”
