Sidley Hires Energy Infrastructure & Private Equity Partners James MacArthur and Ed Freeman in London

Sidley is pleased to announce that James MacArthur has joined Sidley’s global Energy, Transportation, and Infrastructure practice. Mr. MacArthur will shortly be joined by Ed Freeman. They will be based in our London office. Messrs MacArthur and Freeman focus their global practice on private equity and infrastructure funds and join Sidley from Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP in London.

Mr. MacArthur has more than 20 years of experience acting for corporate and private equity sponsors on European and global deals across a wide range of sectors, including energy, digital infrastructure, logistics and transportation, social infrastructure, and sports. Mr. MacArthur advises a number of leading infrastructure funds and is ranked as a Leading Lawyer for Infrastructure in both Chambers UK and Legal 500 UK.Mr. Freeman’s practice covers cross-border private equity and M&A transactions. He acts for leading financial sponsors on cross-border acquisitions, disposals, equity investments, co-investments, and other financial sponsor related transactions, in particular in the infrastructure sector.
