Shearman & Sterling has further expanded its global M&A practice with the addition of partner Frank Miller in London, the fourth M&A partner joining the firm in 2015. He joins Stephanie Tang in Hong Kong and Rob Masella and Waajid Siddiqui in New York as new additions to the firm’s global M&A team.
Miller joins the firm from Freshfields, where he was an M&A partner and co-head of the firm’s Telecommunications, Media and Technology Sector Group. He began his career in New York and became English-law qualified when he relocated to London from New York in 1999. Miller’s dual-qualification and experience working on a wide variety of multi-national and cross-border transactions give him a unique perspective from which to advise clients facing an increasingly global business environment.
“We are delighted that Frank is coming to Shearman & Sterling,” said Creighton Condon, the firm’s Senior Partner. “With increasing M&A activity, we envision significant opportunities in London, Europe and globally to support our clients on their critical M&A transactions.”
George Casey, Global Head of Shearman & Sterling’s M&A practice, adds, “Frank has a highly established practice in London and has supported his clients on exactly the kind of complex, cross-border transactions for which we are so well known. He will be joining an outstanding M&A team in London and, more broadly, in Europe, and we expect that his transition will add great value to our clients from day one.”
Said Laurence Levy, Shearman & Sterling’s Head of M&A in Europe and the Middle East, “Frank is a great fit for us, and we’re eager to have him bring his outstanding legal expertise and business acumen to our offering.”
Miller has supported an impressive list of corporates and sponsors—both within the telecommunications, media and technology sector and more broadly—on their M&A, joint venture and other corporate transactional work.
“Shearman & Sterling has a great reputation in London for its M&A, private equity and other transactional capabilities,” Miller said. “I see this as a great opportunity to become part of a successful, growing team with an outstanding platform.”
Shearman & Sterling has expanded its global M&A team with the addition of Tang in Hong Kong and Masella and Siddiqui in New York. Tang represents Chinese companies on a variety of public and private cross-border M&A transactions, special committee assignments on US take-private transactions and private equity transactions. Masella covers M&A and private equity transactions, capital markets and corporate governance and represents investment banks in connection with fairness opinions and other advisory transactions. He has also advised a number of US West Coast technology clients on corporate matters. Siddiqui maintains a broad-based and very active M&A practice that is focused on representing corporates, financial institutions, oil & gas companies and strategic and financial sponsors located in India.
