Paul Hastings Adds Elite International Arbitration Partner in London

Further establishing itself as a destination for premier legal talent, Paul Hastings LLP announced today that widely recognized international arbitration lawyer Garreth Wong has joined the firm as a partner in its London office. He will serve as the firm’s global co-chair of international arbitration. Wong joins Paul Hastings from Shearman & Sterling LLP.

“Garreth is a premier lawyer whose exceptional experience, reputation, and client relationships in international arbitration will immediately elevate our litigation practice in London and globally,” said Paul Hastings Chair Frank Lopez.

In addition to his representation of multinational corporations in high-stakes commercial, construction, and investment treaty arbitrations, Wong also is known for his work in multijurisdictional litigations.

“I’m excited to join Paul Hastings and play a leading role in expanding the firm’s global disputes footprint as part of its strategic growth plan” said Wong. “Paul Hastings has an enviable track record in supporting clients through their most difficult and intractable disputes, and I look forward to working with my new colleagues in further cementing the firm’s reputation as the go-to destination for complex cross-border litigation and arbitration,” he added.

Ranked in Chambers, Legal 500, and Who’s Who Legal: Arbitration, Wong was included in the inaugural Legal 500 International Arbitration Powerlist: UK 2019 as one of the UK’s leading arbitration counsel and was featured again in the 2022 edition.

Wong joins the firm’s London office on the heels of several other key partner additions this year, including infrastructure and energy partners Jessamy Gallagher and Stuart Rowson, and financial restructuring partner Helena Potts. He is also the latest prominent partner to join Paul Hastings’ growing litigation practice this year, following New York-based securities litigator Jennifer Conn and trial lawyer Josh Berman.

In 2022, Paul Hastings grew its London office with 10 lateral partners, including a Band 1 global finance team, leading high-yield partner Patrick Bright, IP litigation partner Jason Raeburn, and private equity and M&A specialist Tom Cartwright, among others. Globally, the firm added partners in 2022 across a dozen practices, including finance, M&A, private equity, structured credit, securities and capital markets, IP litigation, and leveraged finance.
