Dentons has advised the Ministry of Defence (MoD) on the preparation and negotiation of its Maritime Support Delivery Framework (MSDF) Contracts. The contracts took effect on 1 October 2014.
Funds awarded under the MSDF Contracts will be spent on maintaining and repairing the Royal Navy’s 56 warships and submarines. This included a £2.6 billion Babcock Marine contract covering Faslane Naval Base on the Clyde and Devonport Naval Base in Plymouth, Submarine and Surface Ship Support and a £600m BAE Systems, contract covering the Portsmouth Naval Base and Surface Ship Support. It is understood that the Contracts will secure around 7,500 jobs at the UK’s naval bases at Devonport, Faslane and Portsmouth.
Dentons has been involved in the project since November 2011, advising on all aspects of the new contracts, including preparing and drafting the contracts, negotiating with suppliers and advice in the context of MoD’s existing maritime contracts.
