Eversheds Sutherland has strengthened its financial services offering with the appointment of Christine Long as a partner in its wider Commercial Advisory group. Christine joins the global law firm’s London office from Macfarlanes where she was a Senior Counsel advising private capital clients on derivatives, debt trading and structured products.
Christine works with credit funds, private equity funds, asset managers, hedge funds, financial institutions and high net‑worth individuals. She specialises in structuring bespoke, highly targeted solutions that draw on expertise across derivatives, repo, secondary debt trading and structured finance, tailored to clients’ commercial objectives.
Christine’s experience spans a wide range of complex transactions from currency sleeve hedging for credit funds, prime brokerage arrangements, and structured repo transactions for emerging market sovereigns, to interest rate hedging, loan syndication and back leverage using total return swaps and sub‑participations.
In addition, Christine has deep regulatory expertise advising on matters arising under EMIR, UK EMIR, SFTR and MiFID. She has also built a notable reputation advising on large scale regulatory and market dislocation projects for global banks, including IBOR transition and UMR implementation.
Christine has undertaken multiple secondments at global banks and has worked in London, Paris and Hong Kong. She has also enjoyed co-authoring a number of thought leadership pieces on currency sleeve hedging and asset specific financing solutions for credit funds.
