With over 15 years’ experience, Mark is a leader in his field, with wide-ranging knowledge of professional and financial disputes. Mark joins from DAC Beachcroft where he was Head of Global Directors & Officers (D&O) and Financial Institutions.
Mark has extensive experience advising on complex disputes in the D&O and Professional Liability fields. Mark recently completed a complex financial transaction arbitration dealing with the aggregation of several hundred claims, giving rise to losses in excess of £10m. The outcome was successful for the insurers.
Clyde & Co’s specialist professional and financial liability practice has a long established reputation for successfully advising on the largest and most complex disputes brought against international professional organisations.
Simon Konsta, Global Head of Insurance, said: “Exposures for professionals are becoming increasingly global. This is due to a surge in co-operation amongst regulators and the continuing focus by claimants trying to target the ‘deep pockets’ of professional services networks. As a result, firms are increasingly faced with claims that transcend national boundaries.”
“Anticipating this, our specialist group has kept pace with the requirements of its clients, with specialists spread across our 45 offices worldwide. With Mark in our team, supported by the firm’s global network, we will be in an even better position to service our client’s requirements”
Mark Sutton commented: “Clyde & Co has a market-leading PFD group, so I am delighted to be joining the team. I am looking forward to making full use of the firm’s global platform to further develop my practice.”
The team will also be joined by Karen Boto, a Legal Director who has been at DAC Beachcroft since 2003. Karen is an experienced insurance litigator with a particular focus on insurance and reinsurance policy advice claims in markets including D&O and financial institutions.
The recent Clyde & Co merger with leading Scottish firm Simpson & Marwick brought together two leading PFD practices, and further enhanced the firm’s ability to service clients with unparalleled national reach and scope. The Group now consists of 30 partners and 90 associates specialising in professional liability spread across nine offices in England and Scotland.
Clyde & Co’s PFD group is ranked first in the country (Chambers 2015 & Legal 500 2015).
