As the property market has rallied there is buoyant demand for finance and the property capital markets have reopened.

Joining from Latham & Watkins, Lucy is a structured finance specialist who advises on a broad range of structured finance and securitisation transactions, with a particular focus on the real estate sector, including CMBS and RMBS. Her wealth of experience in this area will complement A&O’s market leading offering. Lucy has helped clients, including financial institutions, funds and private equity firms, employ new and innovative funding structures for real estate assets across Europe, in addition to unlocking value in distressed legacy structured finance transactions and loan portfolios.

Christian Lambie, structured finance partner, commented: “Structured real estate finance is an area of focus for us, and the CMBS market in particular is showing promising levels of activity with European issuance this year to date at EUR2.8 billion and up on last year’s volumes, according to data from Thomson Reuters. What’s more, rising interest rates will mean that market participants require more structured solutions to achieve their business objectives. Lucy brings expertise to our team which will help us meet client demand in this area.”

Arthur Dyson, real estate finance partner, added: “This is an important time for the market, given the huge increase in secured real estate lending in recent years and it presents real opportunities. Lucy brings invaluable skills to our group that will significantly enhance our offering to both financial institution and sponsor clients who are involved in structured property financing.”
