Akin announced today that Filippo Durazzo has joined the firm as corporate partner in London, further advancing the firm’s expansion of its global private equity platform. Filippo reunites with U.S. head of private equity Gerald Brant, partners Jeffrey Kochian, London-based Jono Hamill and their team, strengthening capabilities in private equity transactions, complex mergers and acquisitions (M&A) and capital solutions. Durazzo arrives at the firm from Sidley Austin in London.
Filippo advises private equity sponsors, portfolio companies and other corporates on complex cross-border transactions in the U.S., U.K. and EU (including Italy) including capital solutions, M&A transactions, carve-outs, co-investments, divestitures, recapitalizations, refinancings and joint ventures.
“Filippo is another significant addition to our corporate practice and private equity team,” said Akin co-chair Abid Qureshi. “As the fourth private equity partner to join our London office in the past year, Filippo further strengthens our ability to advise clients on complex transactions and strategic investments across key markets. His arrival underscores the continued momentum behind our global private equity platform and our commitment to providing clients with sophisticated counsel across an increasingly complex market environment.”
“The convergence of private equity and increasingly sophisticated capital solutions continues to create significant opportunities for our clients,” said David Sewell, co-head of Akin’s corporate practice. “Filippo’s experience, coupled with his longstanding relationships with members of our team and clients, further enhances our corporate offering and deepens our ability to deliver innovative solutions across the full spectrum of private capital transactions.”
“Filippo is an outstanding lawyer and a trusted adviser to clients on intricate cross-border matters,” said Gerald Brant. “I know first-hand the quality of his judgement, his commercial approach and his commitment to client service. Filippo’s extensive experience enhances our ability to guide clients through complex international transactions and further strengthens our private equity capabilities across an increasingly interconnected global market.”
“The opportunity to join Akin’s integrated global platform was particularly compelling, given its market-leading private equity and capital solutions offering,” said Filippo. “I am thrilled to reunite with former colleagues and look forward to collaborating with lawyers across the firm to work on complex U.S., UK and EU (including Italian) cross-border transactions.”
Additions to Akin’s global private equity platform in the past year include Gerald Brant and Jeffery Kochian, along with Brittany Harrison and Megan Spelman in New York, as well as Jono Hamill, Dan Oates and Angela Becker in London, Dilen Kumar in Dallas and Kimberley Rowe in Los Angeles.
