Addleshaw Goddard Structured Finance Team Gets A Boost With Hire Of Carl Posern

Addleshaw Goddard has added more strength to its structured finance practice with the hire of partner Carl Posern. Posern comes to the firm from Pinsent Masons LLP.

With almost fourteen years’ experience in both London and Frankfurt, Carl’s appointment adds additional fire-power to a team which is already disrupting the market.

Last year AG hired high-profile specialist Rachel Kelly to lead a dedicated structured finance team, responding both to the needs of AG clients and wider market opportunities. Other hires followed and the team have had a very busy year working on a very broad range of structured finance transactions – including multiple private securitisations and portfolio acquisitions as well as advising Sainsbury’s Bank on a £725m STS securitisation and Metro Bank on funding and investment following its acquisition of Ratesetter in 2020. Carl joins the team as it goes from strength to strength.

With a very strong structured finance background, and ranked as up-and-coming by Chambers, Carl has a wealth of skills that complement the existing team which is increasingly disrupting aspects of the London market. Carl is also German-qualified, enabling him to work alongside AG’s Germany team, recently bolstered by the hire of finance specialist Nadine Bourgeois.

This latest hire comes against the backdrop of more strength added to the finance practice as a whole across 2021. The last quarter alone has seen the addition of funds finance expert Jeremy Cross and leveraged finance specialist Ewen Scott.

Amanda Gray, divisional managing partner for finance and projects, said: “We are very excited about how our highly respected City finance practice is evolving. The development of our structured finance team is just one aspect of that. We’ve recently made a number of high-profile hires which enhance our ability to deliver for clients. We are delighted to welcome Carl to this busy and fast growing team.”

Rachel Kelly said: “Carl’s appointment is the latest step in building out our dedicated structured finance team. We are building on our success to date to ensure we have the best possible offering for our clients and I look forward to working with him.”
