Manatt, Phelps & Phillips, LLP, announced the addition of a three-partner group to its Intellectual Property practice, including Robert W. Dickerson Jr. and Lawrence R. LaPorte in the firm’s Los Angeles office, and Yasser M. El-Gamal in Orange County. The team joins from Dickstein Shapiro LLP, where Dickerson had served as co-leader of that firm’s Intellectual Property practice and El-Gamal had served as administrative partner of its Orange County office.

Leading offshore law firm Mourant Ozannes has advised Pershing Square Holdings, Ltd (PSH) on all Guernsey-related aspects of its conversion from an open-ended to a closed-ended registered fund, an upsized placing to raise gross proceeds of US$2.73 billion (excluding an over-allotment option of up to US$272 million or 10 per cent of the placing shares) and its listing and admission to trading of new public shares on the regulated market of Euronext Amsterdam NV Following the offering, PSH will have a market capitalisation of US$6.2 billion. White & Case Advises Lead Managers on Kazakhstan’s US$2.5 Billion Sovereign Bond Issuance

Global law Firm White & Case LLP has advised Citigroup Global Markets Limited, J.P. Morgan Securities plc and HSBC Bank plc as Lead Managers on the establishment of the Republic of Kazakhstan’s US$10 billion Medium Term Note Programme and a subsequent US$2.5 billion issuance under it.

The issuance is the first by the Republic of Kazakhstan in 14 years and consists of a US$1.5 billion series of 3.875 percent Notes due 2024 and a US$1 billion series of 4.875 percent Notes due 2044. More >>

Dentons advises Atrium on €122 million Focus Mall acquisition

Dentons’ real estate team advised Atrium European Real Estate, a leading owner, operator and developer of shopping centers in Central and Eastern Europe, on the acquisition of the Focus Mall shopping center in Poland from Aviva Investors for €122 million. The transaction was financed using Atrium’s existing cash resources.

Focus Mall is currently the largest shopping center in Bydgoszcz, one of the ten largest Polish cities. Constructed in 2008 it comprises 41,000 sq.m. of retail space on two floors. It is nearly 100% let to anchor tenants, including a Saturn electronics store and a Cinema City, as well other high profile international and domestic retail fashion brands. More >>
