Montgomery McCracken Adds Two Litigation Partners in Philadelphia

Montgomery McCracken is pleased to announce the addition of Peter J. Deeb and David Dormont as partners in the firm’s Litigation Department in Philadelphia. Deeb joins from Anderson Kill and Dormont joins from Coren & Ress, P.C.

Deeb concentrates his practice in the areas of commercial litigation, employment litigation and tort defense. For more than 25 years, he has served as counsel for leasing companies, banks, corporations and other business entities, including individual entrepreneurs. His experience includes representing clients in breach of contract, tortious interference with contract, unjust enrichment and fraud litigation, and in employment matters including restrictive covenants such as noncompete and nonsolicitation clauses as well as discrimination claims. He also counsels clients regarding all aspects of equipment leasing, including portfolio purchase agreements, program agreements and master lease agreements and the review and revision of employment agreements.

Deeb graduated from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law in 1984 and from Yale University in 1981.

Dormont has more than 20 years of experience focusing on complex commercial litigation and bankruptcy-related litigation, representing a diverse range of clients from individuals and unions to Fortune 500 companies in complex commercial disputes. He has handled more than 200 matters in federal and state courts and before arbitration panels in a variety of jurisdictions. David has tried cases, as first or second chair, before various trial courts, including in trials which resulted in two of the 10 largest verdicts reported in Pennsylvania in 2005.

Dormont graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 1984 with a bachelor’s degree in mathematics and a master’s degree in mathematics education. He graduated, magna cum laude, from the University of Minnesota Law School in 1992.

Morgan Lewis continues to grow its litigation and white collar services with the addition of Louis Ramos as a partner in Washington, DC.

In addition to white collar litigation, Mr. Ramos will assist clients with the areas of internal investigations and compliance counseling for life science companies including pharmaceutical and medical device manufacturers. He has substantial experience conducting internal investigations for global companies in the US and internationally and brings a depth of knowledge particularly in the areas of anti-corruption and anti-bribery, including the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA), and the Anti-Kickback Statute, and extensive experience in False Claims Act litigation.

Mr. Ramos joins Morgan Lewis from Pfizer, where he was an Assistant General Counsel in the Compliance Division, responsible for all compliance matters in Canada, China, Korea, Japan, and within Latin America. He led a team of lawyers conducting investigations concerning matters related to corruption and bribery, as well as privacy, research and development, and manufacturing issues. He has also practiced at other global law firms, and for six years he was an Assistant US Attorney in the District of Columbia, where he was the lead prosecutor in nearly 50 bench and jury trials.

Firm Represents Underwriters in HTSC’s US$5 Billion Hong Kong IPO

The Hong Kong office of the Firm represented the underwriters in the initial public offering in Hong Kong and Rule 144A/Regulation S offering by HTSC, a joint stock limited liability company established in the PRC under the Chinese corporate name 华泰证券股份有限公司 and carrying on business in Hong Kong as HTSC (“HTSC”). HTSC offered and sold an aggregate of 1,562,768,800 H shares after exercise of the over-allotment option, which raised approximately HK$38.8 billion (US$5 billion) in gross proceeds. The H shares of HTSC are listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange. Huatai Financial Holdings (Hong Kong) Limited, J.P.
