Perkins Coie Grows Bay Area Office with Addition of Former Intel Counsel as Partner
Perkins Coie is pleased to announce that Dana Hayter has joined the firm’s Technology Transactions & Privacy practice as a partner in the firm’s newly-expanded San Francisco office, where he will focus on patent and licensing strategy. Dana most recently served as Vice President and Associate General Counsel at Intel Corporation.
“Dana’s significant experience with sensitive and strategically-important patent licensing work in the semiconductor space is a valued commodity in supporting high-value technology transactions for our clients,” said Marcelo Halpern, co-chair of Perkins Coie’s Technology Transactions & Privacy practice. “The lawyers at Perkins Coie have worked with Dana as a client for many years, and have long recognized and respected Dana’s world-class licensing talent. We and our clients are now fortunate to have access to those talents to further enhance our industry-leading licensing practice.”
Dana was a leader in Intel’s patent and licensing strategy during the rapidly-evolving convergence of PCs and mobile devices. He was a key contributor and driver of strategy in transactions involving multiple billions of dollars, and his skills landed him a spot on Intellectual Asset Management’s (IAM) lists of “Top 40 IP Market Makers” and to the “IAM Strategy 300: The Worlds’ Leading IP Strategists.” His insights have been in high demand for such organizations as The Hoover Institution, the Licensing Executives Society, IP Law and Business, and the Practising Law Institute.
“Our new office in the technology heart of San Francisco illustrates our commitment to providing innovative and collaborative support to our clients and Dana’s arrival offers another important component to the team,” said Barbara Schussman, Perkins Coie Office Managing Partner. “The rapid pace of the Bay Area’s booming tech sector generates substantive opportunities for our firm that involve increasingly sophisticated IP matters. Dana is a highly valued resource of consequence for counseling clients on these deals.”
Dana earned his J.D. from UC Hastings College of the Law, his M.A. from the University of Massachusetts Amherst and his B.S.M.E (cum laude) from the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth.
The attorneys in Perkins Coie’s Technology Transactions & Privacy practice represent leading and emerging technology companies, retailers, manufacturers and other businesses in connection with transactions spanning virtually every segment of the technology industry, including information technology, Internet/e-commerce, mobile, software (developers, publishers and distributors), privacy and data security, gaming, emerging payments, virtual currencies, social media, hardware and medical device and biomedical engineering.
