O’Melveny Continues March into Texas, Opening Houston Office and Adding Three Top Dealmakers

Continuing its expansion in Texas, O’Melveny announced today that it will open an office in Houston—its third new office in the state in just ten months. The office will be anchored by three transactional partners—Angela Olivarez, Steven V. Torello, and Ryan Cicero—who join the firm from Willkie Farr & Gallagher’s Houston office, and partner Monica Hwang, who joined O’Melveny in November. With these additions, O’Melveny will have a total of 47 lawyers in its Dallas, Austin, and Houston offices, including 20 partners. Firmwide, some 33 lateral partners have joined O’Melveny since the beginning of 2021.

Katten Grows its Mergers and Acquisitions/Private Equity Team

FisherBroyles, LLP is pleased to announce Greg Johnson has joined the Firm in Dallas. Greg joins FisherBroyles’ Corporate Department and its M&A practice. He represents buyers and sellers in the small/middle market space and joins the Firm from Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner LLP, where he was a Partner.

For over 30 years, Greg has worked as lead attorney on numerous transactions ranging from $5 million to over $500 million, and he has done deals for public and private companies in a variety of business sectors, including insurance, accounting, business services, software, cloud services, industrials and food. He has particular specialization working with the build-out of portfolio companies of private equity firms, especially in the financial services, investment management and insurance brokerage sectors.

Greg also advises clients in corporate governance matters affecting companies in internal (fiduciary duties, executive compensation and performance, ownership and management changes and succession) and external (strategic alternatives, disclosure, takeover defense) situations. His experience includes serving as independent legal counsel for boards of directors of mutual and closed end funds.

Greg is a member of the Texas, Kansas and Missouri bars and has been selected by The Best Lawyers in America© for Mergers and Acquisitions Law (2007 to present) and Securities Law (2010 to present), and as Kansas City Lawyer of the Year in Securities Regulation (2015). He holds a J.D. from the University of Virginia and a B.A. from Valparaiso University.
