Choate Hires New Manging Director of Wealth Management group

Todd Millay has received the position of the managing director of Choate, Hall & Stewart’s Wealth Management group. This position will mandate working closely with the firm’s management team consisting of lawyers, tax preparers, and trusts and estates administrators. Cadwalader Loses Two

Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft are losing two reinsurance partners. Head of the practice, Lawrence I. Brandes and Harry P. Cohen are joining other firms. Brandes has chosen the DLA Piper and will begin later this week. Cohen will join the New York office of Crowell & Moring at the start of May.

Morris, Manning & Martin has hired a whole troupe of newbies to its firm, existing of three partners, four senior lawyers, and a of-counsel. Washington receives two new partners to join its Intellectual Property group: Christopher W. Raimund and Ping Wang, M.D. Savannah takes Joseph R. “Rusty” Ross and turns him into partner in its health care practice; he will also be working with the real estate group. Morris, Manning & Martin takes 21 year in-house counsel veteran of Fannie Mae, Allison Gould, for the firm’s Atlanta headquarters. Gould will join the commercial real estate lending group.

Moore & Van Allen Recruits Nine

The firm Moore & Van Allen has recruited nine attorneys for its Charlotte office. These new attorney’s join various practice groups: Rick Hazlett, Amy Johnson, Brett Weber and Matt Mitchell join the firm’s financial services group; Three attorneys, Christian Buhrer, Marcus Lee, and Jason Allman are joining the firm’s corporate practice group; David Annis is now a member of the intellectual property group; Michael Coblin is joining the firm’s government, policy and regulatory affairs group. One Down in Knoxville

Law firm Hunton & Williams is closing its Knoxville office. Partner John Decker will be moving to the Atlanta office where he will be “play[ing] a leading role in building the firm’s real estate practice,” says the Atlanta’s managing partner. Two of the office’s attorney’s, John Lucas and John Winemiller, have left Hunton & Williams all together and are joining the Knoxville office of Merchant & Gould.
